My cable modem is where I can view the send & receive LEDs.Īnd because it isn't, I put a Kasa smart plug between it and AC, so I can restart it from another room. I saw that earlier, but it's $10, and a lot more app than I need. There is a little ball that lives in my menu bar at the top of the screen. It simply checks my connection to the internet and notifies me (with a dialog box) if my connection to the internet goes down. The only substitute I've found is this, $10 bucks on the App Store. I've been using a program called BwanaDik for years and years. This software was originally designed by Topaz Labs, LLC. The most popular versions of the program are 2.1, 2.0 and 1.1. Our built-in antivirus scanned this download and rated it as 100 safe. I've used that from time to time, but got tired of the clicks to get to it.īut I'm trying your solution and I'll see how it goes. The 2.1 version of Topaz B&W Effects is provided as a free download on our software library. I use Network Diagnostics which is included with the OS. You and I have memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead.īy believing all possible evil of evil men. ![]() I've been to the edge of the map, and there be monsters. I first acquired it because of a networking problem I needed to solve, but have also found it useful since then. It is a great example of software that knows its job and does it well. Insisting on your rights without acknowledging your responsibilities isn’t freedom, it’s adolescence. BwanaDik is a menu bar applet that indicates the status of your network connection. Your boos mean nothing to me, I've seen what you cheer for. There’s trouble - it's time to play the sound of my people. I'd like a similar app for newer OSs, but can't find anything that's the equivalent of a CONNECTED/NOT CONNECTED idiot light/status indicator. The Dev's domain is up for sale, and Safari can't find the updater's site. It still works well in 10.12.6/HS, but it hasn't been updated for some time, and as near as I can tell, is now orphaned. It also provides the option of a popup alert for loss of connectivity, and connectivity recovery, all very handy. Yes, there are a lot of ways of checking, but Bwana put a Green or Red dot in the menu bar for go/no go status and it's been very handy for me, as I lose connection far too often. ![]() Some time ago someone here mentioned Bwanadik to tell if one is connected to the Internet.
